Winters High School Band
Area Marching Band Contest
Information
The Band (8th-12th grade) has advanced to The Area D Marching Competition in Belton. They will be competing against 12 other bands. If they are one of the top 3 bands at Belton they will be competing at the State Marching contest in the Alamo dome. The State contest is on Monday Nov. 5th.
We will not be attending the football game at Baird on Friday. This will allow the band students to get as much rest as possible, in their own beds before we depart.
We will meet at the band hall at 2am.
We must be in Belton no later than 6:45am.
The band enters warm-up at 7:15 and performs at 8:00.
The results will be announced at 12pm.
The band will eat at 1pm at Fuddruckers in Killeen. After the meal, we will return to Winters, and should be here around 7pm or sooner.
We implore you to keep your band student home Friday night and have them in bed by 10pm.
These students have worked very hard to be only the second band in the history of Winters High School to advance to Area and compete for State.
We need to provide them with every advantage possible.
It is much more feasible to ride in the comfort of charter buses to Belton, as opposed to spending 4 to 5 hours in a hotel. Our experience two years ago was that the students got very little sleep staying in a hotel (too excited). We feel they will be better rested riding charter buses.
Please understand that in the event that the band advances to State, they will most likely spend the night.
We will have maps available at the High School office for anyone interested in making the trip.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call or come by the Band Hall.
