Student Council Membership Guildlines

As a student government organization, it is Student Council’s responsibility to present all students at WHS. Because of this responsibility to their peers, Student Council members adhere to a set of guidelines set up by a group of the members themselves.

  • Participation

Student Council is a very community service oriented organization. Throughout this year we will participate in many programs benefitting either our school or our community as a whole. Members are required to take part in these events unless he/she can provide a legitimate excuse.

  • Probation

If a member is put on probation for any reason, he/she cannot receive any points until full membership is reinstated. If a member is put on probation due to participation or discipline issues, the student can work off the probation. If the probation is not worked off, he/she will remain on probation until the end of the semester.

  • Grades

All Student Council members must maintain a passing average of 70 or above. Grades will be checked according to the same schedule as all other extracurricular activities. The first time a student is placed on the failing list, he/she will be put on probation. If he/she remains on the failing list at the next grade check, he/she will be removed from Student Council until he/she can achieve a passing average.

  • Discipline

If a member receives one day of ISS, he/she will be put on probation. If a student receives a second separate day in the same six weeks or if he/she receives 3 or more consecutive days, he/she will be removed from Student Council. Student Council sponsor, Mrs. Moore, will handle all legal issues and other serious disciplinary matters. However, because Student Council members are leaders in their school, discipline should not become an issue.
